Moving FAQ
Q: Can you give me a ballpark estimate?
A: We can give you something even better: a price that accurately reflects the
scope of the job. It's called an all-inclusive price and we stick to it. If
other movers offer you an all-inclusive price, make sure they mean it.
Q: When is the best time to move?
Take all factors into consideration when deciding on the best time for you to
move. Keep in mind, however, that the summer months (mid-May to mid-September)
and the beginning and end of each month (regardless of the season) are particularly
busy for moving companies and may require more flexibility and advanced scheduling.
Q: When should I contact moving companies for estimates?
Try to provide moving companies with as much notice as possible, especially
if you are moving during the summer months. We recommend at least four to six
weeks before your desired moving date. This will increase your likelihood of
securing the pickup and delivery dates you desire.
Q: What happens when a relocation consultant comes to my home?
The relocation consultant will arrive at your home to perform a visual survey
of your items. The consultant must be able to clearly see what is being moved
in order to provide you with an accurate estimate. If you know of items that
are out of view or will be eliminated, be certain to point them out to the consultant.
Once the visual survey is completed, the consultant will calculate the hours
or weight, packing cost and any other charges related to your move.
Q: Is there a way to make my move cheaper?
A: Yes. We recommend packing as much as you can with boxes taped and sealed
on each side. Have all glass and pictures wrapped and safely boxed.
Q: Are my items covered for lose or damage during the move?
A: Yes. The minimum valuation protection all movers must carry is 60 cents per
pound per article. We offer replacement coverage for $100 which covers up to
$10,000, and a $500 deducible on the entire load. We have a certificate general
aggregate liability for up to $1M covering buildings.
Q: Can I change dates or cancel?
A: You can change the date of your move (subject to availability) or cancel
it up to 48 hours in advance.
Q: What if my inventory changes last minute? Will my price change?
A: Not a problem. It happens all the time. We'll adjust your all-inclusive price
up or down based on the change in inventory.
Q: Should I tip the movers?
A: That's up to you. Suggested gratuity is 15%-20% for the whole crew (not each
mover). The foreman will distribute it.
